Celebrating its 37th year, the Vicksburg Run Thru History 10-K road race is held every year, rain or shine, on the first Saturday in March. Since the first 10-K race in 1980, the race has grown each year and now has over 1,000 runners and 150 volunteers participate annually making it one of Mississippi’s largest road races. A 1 mile event was added in 1985 and a 5-K event was added in 1989.
- 10-K Run – 10 Kilometers / 6.2 Miles
- 5-K Race Walk – 5 Kilometers / 3.1 Miles
- Gray 1 Miler – 1.6 Kilometers / 1 Mile
The 10-K run begins at 8:30 am at the Memorial Arch and finishes at the Battlefield Inn, 4137 South Frontage Road. The 5-K walk begins at the National Military Park Visitor Center at 8:35 am and ends at the Battlefield Inn. The Blue/Gray 1 Miler begins at 10:00 am. Registration is from 7:00 am until 8:00 am. The entry fees for the 10-K run and 5-K race walk are $25 each. The entry fee for the Blue/Gray 1 Miler is $12
It is a challenging course with steep inclines and rolling hills, the course winds around the scenic battlefield on two paved loops, then continues around to the I-20 frontage road and ends in front of the Battlefield Inn. The race route takes you past cannons, fortifications, and trenches that have remained from the war.
